Watching The Classics: A Waste Of Time

I just watched all 5 of the original, “Planet of the Apes” movies and I have to tell you, as bad as some movies are now days…they were a whole lot worse 30 years ago.  PotA is consider one of the best films of it’s time and I was not only bored but bored in the first 10 minutes.  The pace of these films is ridiculously slow (like watching paint dry without the entertainment value) and the acting would make Andy Dick cringe.

That being said, the Tim Burton remake was even worse.  Of course, what were we expecting from Tim Burton?

P.S. Now that I think of it, who else would like to see another Planet of the Apes remake starring Andy Dick.  Now, that’s would be a classic!

HAHAHA “I Hated Myst” I caught that… and I agree, I played Myst for hours on end back in the day because I thought i was supposed to like it because the series of still computer generated images was “amazing” for its time, however at some point you say “what am I even doing?”

As for your comment about the classics Jordan I’ll have to say I agree. I took some film classes in high school and community college and both time the teacher insisted on us watching “classics” such as Citizen Kane and The Grapes of Wrath etc. At their time they may have been groundbreaking but now they are just… well… old lol I think sometimes people assume just because its old and was once critically acclaimed that it should wow every audience for generations to come but that just isn’t the case…

Oh oh! I want to go to Jedi Academy Camp! but, yeah, I’m sure Planet of Apes is a classic, but I’m afraid to watch it… I’m afraid of having too high of an expectation and getting it crushed.

The truth is, the original Planet Of The Apes has a great concept but really bad delivery. They waste tons of time just having the character walking around on open terrain. Yawn!
