There Is No Barrel

First off, I’m having a lot of fun with Photoshop. It’s very different but I love that I’m learning a new set of skills. Obviously, last week’s episode was FAR from perfect (Giant white holes in a comic are never ideal) but I think I’ve figured out how to space the comic better and it will only improve from here.

In case you couldn’t tell, I made my first foray into Photoshopping objects into our comic. It took me hours to work it out for this comic but I learned a lot and now I just toss random objects and characters into places they don’t belong in minutes. I’d recommend learning Photoshop to anyone, it’s really becoming a blast!

Our next episode is different than anything we’ve done before but I think it could be HUGE for us. Hope to see you Monday for all the carnage!

Jordan is great at looking smug and Josh is great at looking like Freddie Prinze jr. Also looks like Jordan has got married in the comic to as there looks to be a wedding photo in shot 🙂

Cant wait to see what happens to Captain Douchebag and his first mate the reluctant Josh.

Great catch on the wedding photo! And here I was thinking it would be enough to take off my ring… silly me. Won’t let it happen again! Well, maybe one more time but that’s cause I’ve already shot next week’s episode.

I have to agree with you, I do look best when looking smug. And Josh does look like a poor man’s Freddy Prince.

Huh, that makes me think. How hard do you think it would be to get Freddy Prince Jr to replace Josh? I mean, it’s not like he ACTS anymore…

You could get Freddy but he would want stuff like to be paid and crazy things like that where as Josh works for free because he is awesome.

Sorry for noticing things that I shouldn’t but I could help it also saw you has a boba fett on the pc tower which is epic. As you can see when I see photos I pick out lots of background detail. Its kind of creepy habit sorry.

Come now Jon.. its Jordan. That’s probably the neighbors or something. It would almost make more sense for him to have a stalker wedding photo of a celebrity or long-lost crush than to actually be married.

…Talking about the character, of course, not the man. The transition to “real” characters does make that distinction a little more precarious.

I call it progress, gentlemen. I much prefer this to the Giant White Spaces. Having the panels together like that makes it look much more ‘comic’ like and easier to read. Might take a look at putting in some “panel lines” between the pictures, but I don’t know how that would look. Could be worth experimenting with.

Also, I’m happy to see that the style and characters have survived the transition; it still sounds and feels like the II crew, the same writing, even if its in a different format. Keep it up.

I just thought of a very simple way to add panel lines! I can’t believe I only thought of this now!

It was very important for me to keep the characters feeling the same as before. I didn’t want to tell a new story as much as continue the story in a new way. The arc we are doing now (it’s loosely an arc) is life after II. I actually planned to do this story at some point down the road but it really feels more fitting now that both II the cartoon comic and II the character’s job finished at the same time.

I truly hope you will like where we end up going with all this!

Looking great guys! I’m happy to hear you have worked passed the “Where the hell do I start?” phase that everyone experiences when beginning Photoshop.

Keep up the good work!

Oh and the comic made me laugh 🙂

so does the carpet 😉
